First Sleepover: A success!

My big kid was so excited as the doorbell rang last night. He was practically falling over himself to get to the door. He was ready to get his night started with his friend "O". I will have to say that it went WAY better than expected. No arguements, no fights, no crying. It was fun and they had a blast.

We started off the night with pizza at Pizza Inn. So, right now we have 2 kids, 1 for each of us. When you throw in a 3rd child what do you do? Who takes which kids? Who stays at the table? Hmmm. I ended up taking one kid to the bar at a time and that seemed to work just fine.
The rest of the night was spent playing wii. They played every game we have and were up till 10:00. Jason and I crossed our fingers for all of them to stay asleep all night and thankfully they did. Everyone woke up happy by 7 this morning. (why is it that no matter was time they go to sleep they always wake up early???) My husband (the best pancake maker) made breakfast for me and the boys. MMmmm good! My kids love for him to flip the pancakes from the griddle to their plates. "O" got a kick out of that. He was picked up by 10:30. I'm so glad they had a great time with their first sleepover! And I actually did too!!

HELP!!! My baby is becoming a big boy!!!

I dont really know where the time goes. It seems like just the other day we were bringing my tiny preemie baby home who only weighed just over 4 lbs when we left the hospital 9 days after his birth. Today he is a 5 year old boy who plays soccer, attends preschool, and is only months away from his first day of kindergarten. My baby is becoming a big boy!!!

Dallas and one particular boy at his preschool hit it off and have been buddies just about the whole time he has been there. The two of them have been talking about going to each others houses for outside of school playtime. So, I had to ask myself AM I READY FOR THAT??? Really? Does a 5 year old need to have a friend over to spend the night??? According to them ,YES they should. After some thought I finally said Okay I'll call his mom. From that moment that's all he can talk about. In fact, it works as good leverage. For example: Dallas, its time for bed and you need to be quiet and go right to sleep. If we have to get on to you we will reconsider "O" coming to stay the night. Oh my gosh, it works everytime!! If all goes well, this Friday is when the sleepover will happen. So, wish me luck! I'll be back to let you know how it went!

Fun-filled weekend

Well, I turned 30 this past Saturday. 30 is just another birthday just like all the others. Everyone asked me "Do you feel older?" and no, I feel no where close to 30. You are only as old as you make yourself. Saturday we dropped off the kids for a couple hours at my dad's house and Jason and I went shopping. I got a couple new outfits. That night Jason and my mom had planned a birthday party for me at a restaurant here in town. Lots of people came and we had a great time. I had instructed them that no surprise party was necessary so I knew all about what they had planned. I'm not a surprise kind of girl, I like to know exactly what's going on. All the kids enjoyed it too. We were in a big party room that was closed off and they could run around without interrupting the other people that were not in our party.
So, on to Sunday. Thankfully the kids slept in till 8:30 which, by the way, is really late for them. We are normally awakened by 6:30. That was a treat for us. We left here at 10:00 and headed for Jason's parents house. The kids were so excited to go to Mimi and Pappaw's house so it didnt bother me too much to leave them for the afternoon. Uncle Billy is in town for a while so that was fun for them as well. I think they played Mario Kart all day on the wii. After the kids were dropped off Jason and I were off to Copeland's for lunch. We were so excited to hear that there was one that opened up in Little Rock. We had not been to a Copeland's since our college years in Louisiana. After we were completely stuffed and miserable we ran over to Penney's. I got me some new perfume with some birthday money. After Penney's we went to see Gran Torino. I enjoyed it. It was really funny but did have some language but that's expected in movies these days. After all that we were back to pick up the boys and were on our way home. I had such a great birthday weekend! Thanks Jason for taking me out!

Its the little things....

I have been lucky to have pretty well behaved kids. You know they have their days as we all do but for the most part they do as their told and try to use good manners. Its the little things that make me so happy though. Landry is the most sweet, loving child I have ever known. It is nothing for him to come and give you a hug (a big bear one). The most precious thing is when he is in my lap and looks up at me and says "I love you, momma". He does that frequently and I love that. It makes me feel good that he sees the love Jason and I have for each other and he expresses that towards us as well. The other day I was in the kitchen making dinner and Dallas came in and asked "whats for dinner?" and I responded chicken and dumplings. He said "Momma that's my favorite thing you make". First of all, I'm glad there is something he likes to eat. He is one picky eater. He eats like a little bird. I guess that would explain his size. Second, I'm glad he appreciates me making a good dinner for him.

Gotta Start Somewhere

I have been thinking about starting a blog for quite some time now and have been convinced by family and friends that it is now time to start. I am a mother of two boys - Dallas who is 5 years old and Landry who is almost 3. I have been married to my husband, Jason, for 7 years and it has been the greatest time of my life. There is no explanation for how wonderful being a wife and mother can be. I am truly blessed.
Over the past 5 years I have been providing childcare in my home. I decided to do this when Dallas was born. He weighed 3 lbs 12 oz. He came home on an apnea monitor and was on it for the first 3 months of his life. Daycare was just not an option for us. I decided the only way I could stay home with my children and still have a steady income would be to watch a few extra kids at our house. Since then, my 2 kids have gone to preschool and I have made a business out of keeping kids. I really enjoy it (although it is trying at times) it is very rewarding. I have the patience to handle most any situation.
So, that's all about me. I hope you enjoy reading about our family. My boys will give me plenty of things to write about.
